The International Rescue Committee is pleased to share a new report entitled Using ICT to facilitate access to information and accountability to affected population in urban areas: A review of the ServiceInfo and Refugee.Info platforms.

The report outlines findings from an assessment that was carried out between September 2016 and April 2017 of the ServiceInfo platform and Refugee.Info platforms active in Lebanon and Europe respectively. The report finds that ICTs can enable humanitarian actors to facilitate two-way communications between dispersed crisis-affected people and humanitarian service providers, while providing crisis-affected people with the information they need to make informed decisions about how to meet their needs through access to services. The effectiveness and sustainability of ICT platforms rests centrally on the ability of organisations to create partnerships on the ground, refine their offerings to be as accessible and relevant to its target users, and develop a funding strategy that ensures continued operation.

The report captures a snapshot in time of the platform. Since the assessment, the Refugee.Info platform has continued to evolve. We look forward to your continued engagement on solutions to urban response and the application of ICT solutions such as Refugee.Info. The assessment was made possible through a two-year initiative supported by EU humanitarian aid on Improving Humanitarian Actors’ Capacity to Response to Urban Crises.

For questions on the report or the Refugee.Info platform please contact Audrey Banks, Refugee.Info Senior Project Coordinator, Audrey.Banks@rescue.org
