In September 2017, Microsoft announced a new Technology for Social Impact group"dedicated to serving nonprofit organizations worldwide and helping them move to the cloud and provide the support they need." The Tech for Social Impact group is within by Microsoft Philanthropies. The manager of the initiative is Justin Spelhaug.

Also in September, Microsoft announced Microsoft 365 for Nonprofits, "a complete, intelligent solution, including Office 365, Windows 10, and Enterprise Mobility + Security, that will empower nonprofits to be more creative and collaborate more easily. In a world where cyberattacks challenge organizations and place their beneficiaries at risk, Microsoft 365 offers a comprehensive shield through identity and access management, and information and threat protection."

The nonprofit organization Medical Teams International (MTI) uses a new app, designed by Cambia Health Solutions and built on Azure donated by Microsoft Philanthropies, to increase the speed and accuracy of diagnosis and treatment.

More details about these offers, and a white paper meant to provide nonprofits with "concrete steps to begin digitally transforming their work" can be found on the Microsoft nonprofits website.
