WFP's mobile app helps collect food-security data

The World Food Programme's mobile vulnerability analysis and mapping initiative, called mVam, uses text messages and voice calls to learn about food security, writes Jean-Martin Bauer of WFP. The app is just the first technological step toward gathering better data and responding more quickly, Bauer argues.
