What kind of field tech will help you meet your mission?

James Sigala at NTEN sent this to the listserv a few months ago and I thought I’d share:

For me, technology in the field conjures images of people out in the rainforest, donning machetes and lugging satellite phone suitcases. Or maybe that’s just my mind. In reality, of course, the field of technology used for social change is broad, and its applications constantly evolving.

Social change is furthered by the concept of “What if?” What if we could realize gender equality in the tech field through social media and digital storytelling? What if we could help teenagers learn about their bodies using media they already use? What if there were an app to automatically upload footage of interactions with police?

Well guess what? There is, in fact, an app for that!

What kind of field tech do you envision in the hands of environmental advocates, field workers, educators, bystanders, and volunteers to meet your mission? That’s a question NTEN's guest authors have provided insights to this month. We hope you enjoy.
